JTR Motorsports faced a challenging weekend at VIRginia International Raceway during the latest round of Porsche Sprint Challenge North America competition before turning its focus toward to the upcoming Porsche Carrera Cup North America event at Watkins Glen International. The team fielded three entries at VIR, including Chris Hutter and David Musial Jr. in the GT3 Pro/Am class, alongside David Musial Sr. in the GT3 Masters category.

The weekend began on a difficult note when Hutter was involved in an on-track incident during Race One. The damage sustained in the accident prevented him from competing in Sunday’s second race, bringing his weekend to an early conclusion. Seen and released from the hospital, Hutter sustained broken bones that will require some time off from behind the wheel of a race car.

Despite the setback, both Musial drivers continued to represent the team throughout the event. In Race One, David Musial Jr. delivered a solid drive to finish sixth in the GT3 Pro/Am class, while David Musial Sr. crossed the line ninth in the GT3 Masters category.

Sunday’s Race Two saw both drivers continue to battle through the competitive fields, with Musial Jr. securing an eighth-place finish in GT3 Pro/Am and Musial Sr. earning an eighth-place result in GT3 Masters.

“VIR was definitely a challenging weekend for us, but I’m proud of how the team handled everything that was thrown our way,” explained Dave Thomas. “It’s unfortunate that Chris’ weekend ended early, but David Jr. and David Sr. both continued to fight and bring home valuable results. Every weekend presents opportunities to learn and improve, and we’ll take those lessons with us as we prepare for Watkins Glen.”

With the Porsche Sprint Challenge weekend complete, JTR Motorsports will now shift its attention to the next round of Porsche Carrera Cup North America at Watkins Glen International. The team will field two entries at the historic New York circuit, with Jared Thomas competing in the Pro category and Rob Walker returning in the Masters class.

The race weekend will begin Thursday with two practice sessions. Friday’s schedule will feature qualifying and Race One, while Race Two will take place on Saturday. Fans can watch all of the action live on IMSA TV at IMSA.com/tvlive or through Peacock.
